Call for Companies : InvestMaryland Challenge Deadline to Apply Dec 12thDec. 12, 2014
The InvestMaryland Challenge is a national seed and early-stage business competition hosted by the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development and Inc. Magazine. The Challenge will award $600,000 in grants and a host of business services to companies in the life sciences and high tech industries. Grants are provided by the Department's Maryland Venture Fund and BioMaryland Center. All categories are open to Maryland, U.S. and international companies. Companies also have the opportunity to receive direct investments from venture capital firms and angel investors.

- Less than 25 employees
- Duly organized legal entity
- IT HARDWARE/SOFTWARE
This category includes, but is not limited to, Enterprise Software, Data Analytics, Social Media & Apps, E-Commerce and Marketing/ADTECH.
- DEFENSE & SECURITY: GOVERNMENT & COMMERCIAL USE
This category includes, but is not limited to, Cybersecurity, Unmanned Systems, Defense (Hardware), Communications Infrastructure, Public Infrastructure (i.e. transportation, aviation, etc.) and Grid Security.
- LIFE SCIENCES: HEALTH, WELLNESS AND THE ENVIRONMENT
This category includes, but is not limited to, Biopharmaceuticals, Medical Devices & Diagnostics, Nutraceuticals, Agriculture Bio & Aquaculture and Healthcare IT.
- SUSTAINABILTY & EXPLORATION
This category includes, but is not limited to, Education Technology, Energy, Solar Power, Space & Satellite-based Technologies, Climate Change/Weather, Water Management and Materials Science.
