Israel's Technion ranked one of world's top 100 universities
Mar. 6, 2014
The Technion is the only Israeli institute to make it into the world’s top 100 universities listed by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (whose website says it is “powered by Thomson Reuters”) this year. With nine other universities, it is ranked 91st to 100th.
This index lists only the top 100 universities, while the survey released in October lists the 200 leading universities.
The Times Higher Education Rankings is based on academics’ opinions, rather than on weighting factors like instructional quality, research volume or innovation.
In October, Hebrew University was among the 10 universities ranked between 101st and 110th, while the Weizmann Institute was ranked among in the following decile, overtaking Tel Aviv University, which rose from the 199th slot to 141st to 150th.
