Start-up Nations - Innovative Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development

A special conference, dedicated to Israeli innovation and sustainable development, recently took place in the  UN Headquarters in Geneva. The conference was attended by IATI CEO & President Karin Mayer Rubinstein, Ambassador Aviva Raz Shechter, Permanent Representative of Israel to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva Eugene Kandel, Former Head of the National Economic Council, and Sharon Kedmi, Managing Director of ALSTOM Israel and formerly Director-General of Israel’s Ministry of the Economy, as well as heads of The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The conference was a joint initiative of the Government of Israel and UNECE, as part of the preparations to meet the deadline set by the UN in 2030 for reaching sustainable development goals.  Senior representative from different states, including Russia, Poland, Sweden, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Romania, Finland, Belarus and Armenia, attended the event in order to learn from the story of the Israeli innovation industry and its sustainable development ecosystem.

Karin Mayer Rubinstein, IATI CEO, said: "We are happy to take part and contribute to the UN's move to encourage economic growth in a way that will preserve and protect the natural resources we were entrusted with for next generations. Israel's advanced technologies excel in sustainable development of solutions to global issues, but what impressed participants from different countries was the collaboration between the private sector and the governmental sector in Israel, and the activity of the wide ecosystem, committed to sustainable development, which in Israel includes entrepreneurs alongside huge companies, investors, funds and incubators, and of course the governmental sector."
