IATI's STEM Education Projects

In recent years we have seen a decrease in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education in Israel. Fewer students are completing 5 units of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science.

IATI co-leads the project, as our mission is to promote and cultivate the advanced technology industries in Israel and consequently we see great value in promoting STEM education. In order to continue being a Start-Up nation we must strengthen STEM teaching in Israel, and encourage high school students to acquire STEM knowledge.

To bridge this problem IATI is co-leading events to promote STEM Education in Israel, with Government ministries, Educational NGOs and with the High-Tech Companies.,

The National Cyber Championship is a collaboration between the Ministry of Education and IATI, drawing more than 300,000 participants from 1st to 12th grade in over 2,000 schools across the country to inspire young people to discover their talents and potential in coding and mathematics.

The 4th championship saw:
• Over 300,000 competitors
• Ages 6-18
• 2,000 schools
• 6 championships
• Variety of coding challenges
• 60 million math challenges solved
• Over 30 contributing high-tech companies

* The Youth Entrepreneurs Competition (Start Cup)

The Young Entrepreneurs Competition is exposing students to the real entrepreneurial world and the Israeli “Innovation Nation”.

The event encourages technological innovation, excellency, creativity and entrepreneurship

Introducing excelling youth to the concept of product development and to virtual and personal “pitches” in front of the VC community.

Since the Pilot event in 2017 the project has seen over 1000 students and is open to all students from 7th - 12th grade (not limited to students with a computer science background).

The project is encouraging entrepreneurial spirit within the traditional education system and promoting the Israeli Edtech industry.

32 startups are already part of the program (14 first cycle, 18-second cycle)

Mentoring – IATI companies/marketing experts/ pedagogy experts/etc.

* Pilot: Adopting technology schools – Hights and Excellency in High-tech

(To the 2017's Hights End Year Event).

The project is a unique opportunity for students to work in high-tech companies.

Classes with 10 study units in computing (5 computer science and 5 software engineering) are “adopted” by high-tech companies, working together on the syllabus

Motivation lectures for 9th graders choosing what to study in high-school.

The program intends to inspire students to study computer science and work in High Tech Companies after finalizing the studies.

In 2018 the pilot project took place with 10 High Schools & 10 junior Highs.
For 2019 the goal is to involve all technologically specialized schools and by 2020 for all schools to be involved in this unique opportunity.
